Beth Leuenberger Orns - Residential Treatment Counseling

001.jpeg

I am passionate about helping youth and their families function well together.  In my experience the right supports and/or program can help a family to accomplish this goal.  As an educational consultant, I enjoy helping families find the right program for their child/adolescent and supporting them in their journey toward healing as a family.  I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing social work for more than 10 years.  I am a proud alumna of the University of Missouri-Columbia’s School of Social Work (Go Tigers!).  I have worked with juvenile and adult offenders  as an employee of the Missouri Department of Mental Health at their maximum security mental health facility, as a Juvenile Justice Liaison and Case Manager for Community Mental Health Center, and as a specialized probation officer.  For one and a half years I worked as a member of a 24 hour a day crisis team for children and adolescents with mental health needs determining if they needed hospitalization, providing crisis intervention, and short term counseling. I am also a therapist, in addition to being an Educational Consultant.  I am very familiar with state funding sources as well as private pay programs. Based at the University of Missouri,   I am available to work with families from central Illinois to Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas.  I am comfortable using technology, such as Skype, to help make a large region more personal and accessible.

Joel Cagwin - Residential Treatment Counseling

Offering USA Expat families consultation in Europe for therapeutic placement in US settings:

When a US family finds that one of their children requires residential treatment not available in Europe, the difficulty of selecting appropriate settings is compounded by both distance and time zones. Both the time and expense of coming to the US to visit possible settings based on web research could cause unnecessary delays in the selection of the right therapeutic model for the child.

Jeanette Spires and her associates are now able to serve U.S. expatriate families personally in Europe. Joel Cagwin is available to meet with families with teens or young adults.  Joel lives in southwestern Germany only 25 kms from Basel, Switzerland, so that air or auto access is easily available.

Joel can help a family and referring professionals determine priorities for treatment, whether behavioral, educational, or both, and Jeanette Spires can work with the schools and programs in the US to determine appropriate fit, and provide the necessary monitoring of continuing placement for up to a year’s time.  Choices for treatment for teens may include therapeutic boarding schools, outdoor behavioral programs, residential treatment centers, and supportive boarding schools. Young adults of college age may select treatments similar to those available to teens, along with college counseling if transfer is needed, but as legal adults must be involved in decision-making.

The collaboration based upon our training as clinical and school psychologists on behalf of your student also includes ongoing communication and planning with the family.  Feel free to contact Joel for an initial phone consultation, which is free of charge.
